I feel clearly that life is so weak for the first time after the earthquake measuring 8 struck Sichuan on May 12, 2008. Just only one or two seconds’ pause , it meant an end of one's whole life. Everyone in China was shocked, and which turned into sorrow quickly.

Certainly, life is weak and short, especially the disaster brought home to us how precious the life is. I now have a stronger resolve to tell those around me how much they mean to me. Do you love someone? Then tell them! Has someone been an influence in your life? Then give them a call! Has someone made a difference in your life? Then write them a letter or send them an e-mail! Don't let another day go by without letting that person know.

Life is too short to leave kind words unsaid. The words you say, or the letters you write, might just make all the difference in the world.

During these days after the earthquake happen, there are another precious spirits to be brought out. The Chinese people faced this disaster with compassion and courage. I was touched by the teacher who died but forming a bridge with his body between two desks, protecting four surviving students under him, by the trapped child who told the rescue workers to save others first, and by the dying mother who left the words to her baby, "My Treasure: If you survive, always remember I love you." She died using her own body to protect her 3-month-old baby from harm. But don't worry about this baby growing up without a family. Thousands of families in China have already volunteered to adopt earthquake orphans. The heroes and heroines are dead but their spirits are perpetuation.

I was also moved by a child used his hands to dig out two fellow students, his hands were severely injured, but his friends survived, by cab drivers turned their cars into ambulances and delivery trucks, by more than 100,000 brave soldiers risked (and some gave) their lives to find every survivor. They faced this disaster with resourcefulness and tenacity.

At this time, I feel our county and our life are so strength because of Chinese people’s unity and the belief. I think the catastrophe will inspire all of us to turn our anxiety into courage, our misery into tenacity, and our sorrow into love.
