National Symbols

2007-05-04 11:51:49

A few weeks ago ,there was a piece of news in the media reading that a certain professor from a university of Shanghai said that the symbol of China should choose another animal to stand for China instead of the dragon. The professor as well claimed that using the dragon as a national symbol could make western countries have a negative view of Chian.I wonder whether such a professor can be a professor. Can the national symbols be changed as he likes?Maybe such a professor has nothing to do but want to make himself known for his remarks.

Dragon is indeed the symbol of evil in many western countries. We should consider their view on a certain extent, but can't go so far as to change it, I think.
