Happy Dragon Boat Festival

The next Tuesday is the Dragon Boat Festival –the traditional festival in China. Ancient Chiese people believe that all devils and the evils will be awake in the May of old Chinese lunar, so they should take some measures to avoid the disaster and bring good fortunes to themselves. They clean their rooms and themselves. They wear fragrant pockets and a beautiful thread as a bracelet which is in five colors.

On that day, there is a custom of dragon boat race,which is very popular in the place where is near the river and lake in China. “ZongZi ”-a very traditional food which is made of stick rice is so delicious that every Chines would to eat it.

There are so many legends on Dragon Boat Festival, the most famous one is about the great poet -“QuYuan ”who is lived in “Zhanguo ”dynasty of China several thousand years ago. He is the noble in “Chu ”country, and he was also very successful poet who created a new kind style of poet is referred to as “ChuCi ”. As a quite able minister, he wa appreciated by the king. With his assistance, the monarch administrated the country well. The country became rich and the people lived happily. But he is so completely in the monarch’s good book that be jealous by the others. By degrees, the monarch didn’t trust him, the situation of the country was from bad to worse. At last, as didn’t accept his opinion, “Chu ”country was beaten by his enemy. QuYuan contributed all his life to the career of stronger his country, but he was fail. With the broken dream, he drown himself in the river where was called “MiLuo river ”.

The local people worried that the fish in the river would eat the corpse of QuYuan. They crumpled up the rice and put them into the river to feed the fish. That is the original of “ZongZi”. So many people went to rhe river and boating, later, the dragon boat race was also on popular.

So , you see Chinese people admire the one who love his country, and will remenber him forever. The patriotism is one of the national characters of Chinese.

Therefor, my dear friend no matter where you are in China, you should take “ZongZi”and eggs which are the traditional food that every one like them. If you are in the South of China, you also can enjoy the dragon boat race and some interesting old customs.

Tips: when you go shopping to buy some “ZongZi”, please don’t choose the beautifu green ones that was industral progress, which is harmful to your health. Do choose the yellow and brown ones, though it looks not so good. Remembe: beauty is but sin-deep. Nature is beauty, and nature is the best.
