    Banks, housing companies and Customers

Chinese stocks have dropped nearly 8 persent after the People’s Bank of China, on the first Sunday of this month, announced it would raise the required reserve ratio to a record high. China has been striven to rein in excess cash to control inflation, to discourage excessive lending and investment. At the same time, it appears that hot money has been pouring into the country, and food prices are not destabilizing enough. Facing the current economic situation, China has been taking the measure of tight monetary policy already.

Owing to the required reserve ratio rising, the banks are not able to use more money in the banking markets, as much as to say, many people or companies can not borrow as much money as before from banks. By all accounts, it seems that the real estate markets are affected badly by the tight monetary policy. In order to rasie funds for the next step, many housing companies deside to reduce the prices of apartments or houses after suffered refusals by banks. They offer some ways like giving a discount, presenting gifts, purchasing house in installments, even buying one get one free. People say the era of sudden huge profits is ovre.

Although lots of housing companise play a few tricks of sale but to little avail.  First, it’s not that easy for customers to borrow money from banks these days, China’s Central Bank has raised the interest rates six times to encourage savings and make lending more expensive; secondly, many people watch, few buy, most wait for the best time, they are afraid of today’s price would fall next day; thirdly, stuff prices are going up all the way; the pressure is growing on people to live a nice life, they’ve got to spend too much meeting their lives. When they are basically satisfied with current housing conditions, most deside not to buy another house.

China’s each policy affects her people and their vital benefits. Maybe we are not ready to adapt to new situations, but we should keep a cool head and a long head on whatever coming to us. You never know what things may jump suddenly before you in the jungle of life. But anytime, anywhere, pay close attention to the policies of our country, that is a star overhead in the dark.

  • Children's Day, not only for Children

    2008-06-03 22:40:49

Children’s Day, not only for Children

Today is Children’s Day, which has been forgotten by me for many years, maybe because I’ve grown up, no longer a boy, or rather, Children’s Day, here, just is Children’s Day. It seems to have nothing to do with people here. Most people never hear of Children’s Day in remote areas, some people only know Children’s Day, but few people understand Children’s Day.

When I was a child and June was coming up, I was so expecting that day’s arrival, which did not mean to get surprises or learn of status of children’s living. My hope was to gain more freedom and space in that holiday to do my own things, such as catching fish in a narrow muddy river, flying a kite on a ridge between the fields of rape in full bloom, or riding a big bike in a dusty road under the hot sun.

For me, Children’s day, at the time, just was a holiday. I could be more free to be my self, and enjoyed my own amusements, of which some were forbidden, such as stealing strawberry, swimming in deep pond or walking by a railway.

My teachers never told me the real meaning of Children’s Day. Why did children have Children’s Day? How did it come about? What functions did it have? Especially, why teachers not have lessons, instend, they had a day off in Children’s day that was not their festival? Exactly, I don’t know how Children’s Day is going elsewhere. And here, Children’s Day, in the most cases, solely means to have a day off or receive some gifts, then it’s nothing.

In my opinion, not only is Children’s Day children’s festival, and what’s more, it’s also a big thing for parents, educators, policymakers, and so on. And the latter, which’s just what I want to say, is the point. How to deal with children left at home and elementary school dropouts? How to assure children of good health and good environment of study? How to protect them from mischief? Most people are too busy working for money to set aside more time and energy for their kids in daily life. I once saw some kids lacking for affection of parents or care of society. They were monkeying around, and easy to go astray under temptation. For our society, indeed, it gives children many promises, yet which are hard to keep for lacking for money and workable actions, especially in West China.

We can’t just hand out some stationery or something or nothing and take a day off, which is not the way we take up our duties. What we are doing is not nearly enough; we need time, funds, energy and actions to take care of children, especially their spirit. Everybody has his own answers in the heart. I don’t need to speak more now. But, remember, Children’s Day is not just set up for children.

  • After Disanter

    2008-05-28 18:17:10

    After Disaster

Now, it’s about 3 o’clock in the morning. My mom, my older sister and her husband have gone down stairs to the shops on the first floor to check on all things. And I just crawled out of the covers.

Just a moment ago, mom took a call from my younger sister in another district, who told that the storm had caused flood flowing into her house and grocery store and asked mom if it was ok here. Mom ran to open the window, much to her surprise, she shouted, “Oh,my God, the street has become as a river.”

I know it’s raining cats and dogs outside, but when I was in the bed and heard mom’s shouts, I took no notice of it. She, I thought, was just kidding around.

I’m left in charge of home, or rather, I just want to sit in front of my desk and write something for rain always makes me think more and deeper.

“Soboma, So…bo……ma! Are you up? Come down here, come on.” Sorry, my mom is calling me now. I’ve got to get down, perhaps I can give a hand or something.

    To be continued…

It’s 5:43 a.m now. Man, I’m back, with weariness and foulness of the flood. The storm may be one of the worst disasters in our city’s history. It’s unbelievable that the accumulated water in our shops has reached more than one meter in depth. Lots of medicine boxes, paper and something are flowing on the water. Quickly, we transferred the medicine and equipment in danger of being washed away to a safe and high place. The same with our neighbors, who were busy draining water out of their apartments during the time from two to five in the morning. Our street has become as a long river, and the yard has become a deep and dirty pond.

We have roughly estimated our loss caused by the flood at 500 dollars. But that’s not what I want to say. I mean my family and I unite together, help each other so that we ride out many difficulties confronting us. We have a population of 1.3 billion, if we unite together when one of us gets into trouble; then one’s difficulty divided by 1.3 billion no longer equals difficulty. Failure will never overtake us if we are closely united enough. I believe, anytime, anywhere, we could be better, and we will win.

  • The Wenchuan Earthquake of May 12

    2008-05-26 22:32:24

The Wenchuan Earthquake of May 12

I’ve learned about some earthquakes from books and TV-shows, such as the Tangshan Earthquake of 1974 caused more than 240000 people to lose their life, the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 and Japan Earthquake of 1923. All led a great loss of their own. So it is with the current quake of Wenchuan, on May 12, 2008. It was so strong that almost all of the country shook to some extent. Many people in different places, more or less, felt this shake.

That day, about 14:30, I was surfing on the net looking for informatin about the Philippines. All of sudden, a word was given to me that a violent earthquake just came about in Wenchuan. Oh, man! Would I believe it then? I didn’t regard it as a matter of any importance. After all, I never had a dream of any earthquake.

Until later the day, I’d not believed it. In my opinion, earthquake and volcano were just events in history and, far away from us so that we did not need to spend time to consider when and where them would happen. It was so incredible, but, in Wenchuan, it was true.

My eyes were moist when seeing the painful pictures on television. I was shocked and troubled for lots of buildings collapsed and pinned hundreds of thousands of people. More than five provinces and twenty cities got involved in this quake. some parts of these citis almost became ashes. The water system, power system and traffic system were entirely crippled. In some way, it seemed like the end of the world. You caught the sight of damaged shoes and clothes on the ruins, but no owers; you heard the cries for help from the victims, but it took time; life and death twirled round and round in your heart, but you couldnot get it straight. Maybe nothing left but black and white in mind.

Death and destruction caused by this powerful earthquake was like a dark hole devouring the souls of people. And sometimes we had to hopelessly watch them vanishing one by one from our side while nothing we could do. I’ve got to say, we lost so much, nor regarding whether it was life or porperties.

By all accounts, so far, the confirmed death toll of Wenchuan Earthquake has now reached 62664, 23775 people are missing and 358816 are hurt. And the numbers of loss will be still growing. In most cases, only do I shed tears for I’m touched deeply by man’s life but I do nothing. At the moment, in the melancholy music, I hope with all my heart that the loss caused by the quake could reduced to a minimum, that homestead rebuilding could be operated as soon as possible, that all of survivors could come back to the regular life and all of victims could sleep in peace. God bless you, my dear fellow-men. I will still pray for you, tear for you.

  • The Games between the Police and Others

    2008-05-10 21:37:43

The Games between the Police and Others

I go across several blocks on my way to City Stadium everyday. I often meet some police patrolling there. In some cases, I would study them when they come into sight. One of dreams from my childhood was to be a soldier, maybe their presence wakes up my old dream on that account.

After a time of my observing, in general, I discover that there are two figures in police. One is too fat, the other is thin.

Generally speaking, more stripes and stars on the military uniform, higher ranks he wears, then richer and fatter he gets; nevertheless, compare to that, the ranks are thinner and poorer. Of course, most of them are better off than common people. It’s a wonder that, as police, in stature, they nearly have nothing but body fat and bones.

I’m wondering if they each would beat up a ruffian or thug single-handed; after all, some of criminals are big and muscular. Not all cats can catch mice; even some of cats dread to face mice without aid or fellows. Yet it’s a natural for a cat to catch mice. But in man’s world, in some cases, between the police and offenders or some people, there is a game, a show, a play or a deal. Certainly, it’s not a problem of just one nation, it’s a universal one. And the game is on every day.

  • Tell Me Why

    2008-04-21 17:43:34

    Tell Me Why

Our motherland is developing healthily, rapidly, powerfully as you can see. In politics, we have a stronger voice; in economy, we have more money, we have more “Made-in-china”; in culture, we have set up two hundred ten Confucius Institutes in sixty-four countries and regions until July of two thousand seven and the two numbers are increasing.

We have made more and better achievements in different fields in thirty years of reform and opening-up. Now China has become one of international stages from the ashes of wars. Of course, compared to some of the western countries, we still have a long way to go, we still have to learn from Russia, France, the United States, Japan and something. We would be one of superpowers one day, and we believe we will. Japan just took more than twenty years to become economic big power from the ruins of the World War Two, which, I think, is the best example for us.

We have flying man Liu Xiang, some people say it’s a miracle, but we have reason to believe that China has and will have more miracles.

My fellow-men and I have great expectation for our country and we each have been trying so hard to do our own work and uniting under the five-star red flag to face all trouble. However, now I’m a little bit troubled by the unfair actions of very few western media, politicians, groups and something. They take Darfur, human rights, the 14th Dalai Lama and other stuff for excuses by design to suppress China and interfere in its internal affairs . What they have been doing are unjust, unreasonable, evil, decided by their imagination not the truth. They say, like a dictator of the world, China is wrong here and wrong there, without seeing China’s progress.

Recently, the host Jack Cafferty of CNN, said on April ninth, that “So I think our relationship with China has certainly changed. I think they’re basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they’ve been for the last 50 years.” What he said can not defame China, but just proves him the evilest thug. If I may say so, Jack Cafferty, shame on you, your bad behavīor brings shame on the United States. Yet, to make matters worse, there are still more “Jack Cafferty.”

What we need is a bridge, not a wall. However, why do they or some of the advanced western countries suppress China? Is it because China not only is the biggest socialist country but also developing very rapidly? Is China a threat to the developments of those people’s counties?  Tell me why, please! I’m pretty looking forward to your reply. Thanks so much!

  • Before and After the Iraq War

    2008-03-21 23:50:05

[Before March Twentieth Two Thousand Three]

Here is not Paradise, nor Hell.

But, we have our own stage by which we demonstrate our ability and talents.

And we have books and schools in which we are trained to be more capable and smart.

Still we have delicious restaurants crowded streets and grand buildings in which we enjoy ourselves.

What else do we have besides these?

We have Allah, we have grandparents, parents and brothers and sisters, and we have a whole and nice family.

    [After Iraq War]

Here is not Paradise, but Hell.

Here are no blue skies, no white clouds, but thick smoke rolling up, gunfire and dark days.

Here is no laughter, not to mention happiness, but there are bloody battles and dead bodies.

Here is no peace for people, for peace has gone into pieces under naked power politics.

What else do we have to lose besides these?

We have Allah, but we lose homes, we lose relations, we lose lives and everything. Now you have anything you want, tell me what else you want to take from us, tell me, tell me...

  • How to Give Yourself a Name?

    2008-03-12 11:19:58

How to Give Yourself a Name?

For people whose mother tongue is not English, not every foreigner can call your name correctly. Sometimes it may cause you some inconvenience in your life or business when you communicate with foreigners who may feel hard to call your name or mistake your name for someone else. Also, I think more and more people are stepping into the international stage, and we would work with all kinds of people with different color of skin and religious beliefs at home or abroad. It’s good to have your own English name.

Here there are four ways to give you an English name.

One: Generally, we don’t change the surname, so you can directly change your original first name for an English one. The principle is that what you choose sounds like your native name. For example, someone called Wu Dawei(吴大伟), he may call his English name David Wu. It’s easy for a foreigner to remember you and your name. That’s the most common way to give you an English name.

Two: You can choose a desirable name according to your nature. If you have a sunny disposition, you like the fresh air in the morning; you have great expectations for the future. Then you may give you a clear or hopeful name such as Catherine, Helen and Andrew. If you have a calm and introverted disposition, you like to stay in a corner; you don’t like to chat with people and you tend to be moved by someone or a movie still you want to be as free as the wind. You may name yourself Francis, Maria and Dolores. Besides you can choose your name according to your hobbies. If you like plants, Rose may be your name.

Three: You can use other country’s name, such as Spanish name Emiliano, French name Dacio Indian name Dakshesh, or you can create a fire-new name. Two of my friends did so, a friend named He Mingshu(何明术) created a name called Hamiki, the other called herself Stania. Take me for example, My native name is Wang Linhai(王林海), I found the corresponding Spanish words Soberano BosqueMar, then I shortened the three words to be Soboma namely my name. Look, it’s simple, rememberalbe and cool.

I hope those suggestions could help you choose a nice English name that may bring you great convenience or good luck in you life and business. I will be glad to see your own ones. If you have one, let me know and leave it here.

  • Who Will Be the Next President after Bush?

    2008-03-10 10:51:51

Who Will Be the Next President after Bush?

Today I speak chiefly and briefly of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain who have become the clear front-runners in the primary elections.

Hillary Clinton, the former first lady of the United States, the present senator of New York may be the first female president of America. She says she has more experience to deal with American’s problems, also, she says if you elect her, any trouble will be solved. It sounds she were an almighty Goddess. But in the real life, there is no Almighty. Economics is her leading topic of presidential campaign, so if you are more concerned about economy, you are likely to vote for her.

Barack Obama, the handsome, intelligent and capable black senator from Illinois, at the age of forty-six, may historically be the first black president of America. “Change we can believe in” is his slogan, I’m not sure if he can make a big good change for the Untied States, yet I do believe the United States needs some fine change so do the blacks who may think they are not only the MVPs in MBA or other sports, but also in political circles. His topic of campaign is about the wars in Iran and Afghanistan. He said it’s important to be right on day one. (Mister Bush and Hillary Clinton perhaps do not like this word) The voters who think this is an important issue probably vote for him.

And John McCain, the former prisoner of war in Vietnam, the republican leading candidate, at age seventy-two, may become the oldest president. So far, he has secured the republican lead, and he think the radical Islamic extremism is the biggest issue of the twenty-first century. I just learned that George W Bush is behind him. It’s hard to say that they may basically have the same plans for terrorist groups. Anyway; he has won the presidential nomination while the fight between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama who are in a tight race is still continuing.

Who will be the next American president? Did you ever think about it? Well, I’m not sure but I guess Barack Obama may be the Americans’ choice.

  • China Is Taiwan’s Father / Taiwan Is a Tooth Fell from the Mouth of China

    2008-02-11 14:38:30

China Is Taiwan’s Father / Taiwan Is a Tooth Fell from the Mouth of China
---------------the world should have a person like this
Some comments I give to a foreigner about her article

Monica: I don't support either reunion or separation because I believe this question should not be answered by me or any of you in China...it should be answered by all the people in Taiwan...
Comment(haihaibs): China is Taiwan’s father, China is adult, Taiwan is just a boy. Many times Taiwan attempted to join the United Nations. The former United Nations Secretary General Annan and the present UNSG Pan Ki-moon said: “you saucy little thing, you are only a boy, you have no any rights or qualifications to join the United Nations. Your father is by your side. He is awarded custody of you. You know? You are just a tooth that fell from the mouth of China, and the assay of DNA has proved that you just are a part of him. Come on, go back and play games.
Monica: Communists insisted "Hongkong needs to come back in 1997 and Macau needs to come back in 1999". Then the English and Portuguese governments said: "Okay".
Here is the question: who really cared about what the people in Hongkong and Macau think???
Comment: who? Is it the United States, Australia, France, Russia…? Shit, the UK and Portugal cared because they couldn’t squeeze money from these two bleeding lands any more. Who really cared about the future of Hongkong and Macao? Nobody else cared, but China.
Monica: Shouldn't they have the right to decide which government they want?
Comment: God, what are you talking about? Babe!? Who says they don’t have the right to choose the government they want? Everybody who has common sense knows that Hongkong people and Macao people have the right to choose a government they want.
some people either have British nationality or have Portuguese nationality or other nationality. Even now they have dual nationality. Any time they can leave China, leave Hongkong, they can choose British government or Portuguese government or other one. So long as they like, nobody stops their actions.
China does nothing to change the form of government of Hongkong or Macao, China is socialist nation, but Hongkong and Macao are capitalist special administrative region. China does nothing but soldiers are garrisoned in there two places where have made big achievements as people can see. Have you ever seen an official who comes from Mainland China? China carries out the policy of Hongkong people govern Hongkong and Macao people govern Macao. So does the problem of deciding which government exist? Very Most people chose to stay still in Hongkong and Macao, today, they know they had made the right choice.
Monica: Honestly, Hongkong is not a football and you can't kick it over like that...
Comment: Just like what you said, Hongkong is not a football, but Britain, the robber took it for a ball and robbed it, and now we just wanted to get it back.
Monica: Same to Taiwan, it is not just a LCD TV...it is a nation representing 22 million people. So I think these 22 million people have their right to decide which government they want...
People say that the Taiwan Government is absolutely a mess and Taiwanese will be better off if they are back to P.R.China.
Okay, maybe it is true...but it is their problem and if they want to continue this mess, they should have the right to choose so...
If the Communist act like a savior and use this reason to enforce it back, well, I have to say they are doing the same thing as what Bush is doing in Iraq.
Comment: I’ve said that before, China is Taiwan’s father, Taiwan just is a saucy boy. The problem of deciding which government does not exist. Taiwanese government governs Taiwan, what ever the form of government is, but you are sure to know that it is a special government of a province of China. 99 percent countries and the United Nations admit that Taiwan just is a part of China. According to what you said, is it ok for me to cut an arm from your body?
Oh, boy! You are badly narrow-minded. Why not wipe your eyes so you can see essence of affairs. How could you confuse a mild nation with a warlike nation?
The United States attacked Iraq for plundering oil, military bases and updating their weapons. The United States carries money to its own country from Iraq and other countries. But China just wants to make a stand for its own territorial integrity and it carries money to Taiwan from its exchequer.
Monica: I know you guys won't feel good if I say your government is brainwashing you...But that's the difference between you and me...
Ray123 is trying his best to advertise his "Country Concept" for Communists while I am trying to show you the meaning of "Domocracy" and "human rights"...
Comment: I don’t feel good because of your ignorance. The United States is always preaching peace, democracy and human rights. He says it’s not right here and there. And now what you can see, the funniest monkey was dancing with guns in other countries.
Every nation has its own democracy and human rights. If you don’t know the national conditions of a country, don’t put your dirty hand in. You’ve been thinking that you are talk about democracy and human rights. If I may say so, actually, you are just speaking nonsense. You talked a lot but never said anything. You want to show you understood the meaning of democracy and human rights. Instead, we can tell you know nothing about that. You are just making fun of youself.
Monica: If a New Zealander thinks its government sucks and wants to move to Australia, he should have rights to do so and he should not be blamed for what he did! If a Taiwanese doesn't want a Communist gvernment, he should have the right to choose so!
Comment: If a Chinese person does not accept the Chinese government, he can move to another country, nobody stops him, not to mention people of Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan. God, you are deadly out of date. The third biggest country in the world is so strange to you that you almost know nothing about it. Friend, are you studying in school?
Monica: Before 1997, thousands of Hongkongese immigrated into New Zealand because they didn't believe in Communists but they can't change the future of hongkong since your government and the English had done the deal!
Comment: Hongkong has a population of about 6.9 million. If few people immigrated into other countries, however, don’t make a fuss, it’s nothing, it’s normal. I’ve said that 98 percent of HK people chose to stay put because they believed Chinese government, which exactly does not disappoint themselves. People can lead a better life, and Hk still is one of the most famous and wealthest cosmopolises.
Monica: I feel sorry for people in Hongkong and Macau because they were just treated as some personal property with no respect and their future was done in the deal not through any democratic process.
Comment: I once thought you were smart, a woman of marked individuality. And now I know you are one of the most ignorant people who know very little politics. You don’t need to be sorry, but be sorry for yourself.
Several days ago I read a book called “Everyday English of American Teenagers”, which says some Americans don’t know South Korea is one of the most advanced nations. They may ask, do you live in thatched cottages, do you use cellphones? These who come from the most civilized and democratic country are absurd indeed.
What’s the worse, I discover that some of the advanced countries also have some most unprogressive, funniest people. If you want to talk about China, you’d better come to China and have a good look, or read some specialized books about it at least.
You said their future was done in the deal not through any democratic process. God, did you see it with your one eyes, did you come here at that time? Who tells you the rubbish? Any of African nations has its own democratic process more or less. Hasn’t the great power in Asia ever had a bit democratic process!!?? could China become the focus of world attention without democracry? Could China stand steadily on the international stage without democracy?. Could it be that China rules and makes great achievements with violence?  you are supposed to eat your words!
Monica: Believe or not, people who want separation have strong reasons just like people who want reunion ...
People who insist on separation should not feel shamed and get blamed for what they believe!
Taiwan is R.O.C and your country is P.R.C. How can a country have two names??? So Taiwan is not part of China...
Comment: I’m thinking that if Hawaii wants to be a country, what does Bush’s administration do with it? The battles continued all the time in Northern Ireland during nineteen sixty and nineteen ninety. Why didn’t British government give up the part of territory?!
My God! How innocent you are! why haven’t you grown up? Who says R.O.C is a country’s name? The Untied Nations admits it? Australia admits it? Which country admits that R.O.C is a country’s name?! If Hawaii changed its name to be the People Republic of Hawaii, according to your opinions, Hawaii is a country not a state of U.S.A. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.
Here I’m speechless, almost pass out! Finally, pardon me! I think you’d better go back school, or make a visit to China that would be the best! I just cannot believe you don’t even have the little common sense about politics. I call tell even you may not know the special meaning of the 2008 Olympic games is to be held in Beijing. Maybe you have got behind the times, you are so funny!
For you, for what you said, as a political illiterate who was educated in an advanced nation, you have brought democratic shame and disgrace on yourself and your country.

    Dream/Peace/War in 2008

    2008, is a nice dream;

    2008, is a bitter action;

    2008, is a great achievement.

New Year, new hope, new dreams, let’s spread our young and tender wings flying in the sky. Everybody has his own big dreams, we never stop our steps, and we take the bad and the good, anyway we know we can go the distance and we can make it.

    2008, is an exciting game;

    2008, is a colorful window;

2008, is an eastern brilliant pearl.

The national flags are waving here and there in the wind. The cities are very of hustle and bustle, full of life and passions. The sun glares out of the blue sky, the night sky is gorgeous with billions of stars and bright moon gives off the clear lights. I’m telling you, here, is a wonderful place, an ancient and fresh country.

    2008, is a gun;

    2008, is a corpse;

    2008, is an expectation.

The sounds of guns violate the calm of the first dawn in 2008. A couple of soldiers walk across the ruins of a city. A boy is lying in a pool of blood. He is going to disappear from the world. Here sounding the death knell in the distance. Several women are kneeling to pray for something in a church, and outside the church are the sounds of guns.

    "In my dream, children sing

A song of love for every boy and girl

The sky is blue and fields are green

And the laughter is the language of the world

Then I walk and all I see

Is a world full of people in need

Tell me why, does it have to be like this?

Tell me why, is there something I have missed

Tell my why, cos I don’t understand

    When so many need somebody

We don’t give a helping hand tell me why…"

  • Who Killed David

    2007-12-22 02:10:59

The time was about 10, one cold night in autumn, somewhere in Northeast China, October, 2007.

    1. A Dead Body on a Bus

At the moment, a bus was coming slowly into the bus terminal, the streetlights giving off dim light in the cold wind, and quite few people in the streets. This was the last bus today; passengers were going off at the bus stops along the road. The driver jammed on the brakes, turned his head back, saw a person in black whose head dropped down still sitting in a seat. He shouted: “Hey, time to get off, bus terminal here. To his surprise, that person made no response to what he said. He thought that what the hell was going on with him who dared sleep here and now.

The driver got up and came over to the stranger’s side. He lightly pushed him and spoke loudly, “Hey man, get off now...” But suddenly the person fell from the seat without a word before the driver ending his talk. It was so horrible that his heart was pounding in haste. He plucked up his courage in panic and stretched his forefinger onto the nose of the passenger. It was deadly cold, no breath, he’d been dead for some time.

The cold wind blew outside the bus in the darkness, the shadows shook behind the trees, awfully quiet.

    2. Capture Murderer

The police came quickly as soon as they received telephone call and investigated into this murder case. They discovered that the person didn’t die of suicide, for a big clear scar of some blunt object in the back of head was found. Who killed the person, when and where the murderer started to act, and when and how the corpse got onto the bus.

The murderer impossibly killed him on the bus among the passengers. Seen from the wound, it took a lot of strength to hit with a big blunt object, it was not proper to commit an act of violence on a bus. It might be that someone brought him onto the bus and got off at one of bus-stops.

The police monitored the bus line strictly in time, hoped for a turn for the better in this case.

One of a few nights, a hotelman made a call to the police station and said the deeds of two lodgers seemed strange and, there might be a catch in it somewhere.

The two lodgers, a middle-aged man and a young man, lived in the first floor and ran away madly the moment they saw the police. However, they were not able to escape from the police’s fingers even if exhausting all their energies. Facing the armed police and bystanders around them, hearing the alarm sound of police cars, the older man failed to hold back his emotions in panic; his will went to pieces and, knelt down to the police, he said painfully with tears, “Ok, I say, I say, I say all the truth…”

    3. How David Died

We are the peasants in Jingyang village. Recently, we continuously lost several little pigs in weeks in my pigsty. We thought that someone stole my pigs for sure. Nothing happened when we took turns to watch the pigs at night, and pigs were gone when we didn’t. There should have been 12 little pigs there, but only several ones left now. My whole family was poor; you know what they mean to us. We were so pained to think of this and vowed that we must catch the thief. We must make him pay for what he had done. We would let him compensate for our great losses.

So, every day my son and I stuck to staying up late to watch our pigs. One night, we turned off all lights and watched TV show quietly, suddenly, we heard the cries of the pigs. We walked lightly out of the house from the back door in order to catch him. We saw someone, from behind, bending over the wall of the pigpen, with a lighted cigarette sparking between his fingers. I thought, “Good boy, this time you are dead.” We walked up to him from behind. My son gave him a fierce hit at the back of the head with a shoulder-pole as we shouted in chorus, “Catch thief!”

I yelled loudly at him, “You bastard, being caught now, get up, and come to police station…” Although I yelled still, he just lay on the ground, without moving. I came close to him and discovered that he just was the gambler David of our village, dead. I broke down at a stroke. It was all up with us now. I cried, “How it could be, how you beat him to death? What shall we do now…” My son said, “I never expected he was too weak to support the hit”.

We were so scared. We looked tensely around, nobody here; finally, we decided to conceal the dead body in the dark night in order to weasel out of the legal obligation. We removed him into the pigpen, covered him with desiccated branches. But unfortunately, Thomas

happened to make his way to us unsteadily with a flashlight.

“What are you doing here?” He said. “Oh, nothing, just looking after our little pigs. ” I said. Then he started to glance round inside the pigpen. He shone his flashlight slowly along the wall, then, stopped, in a corner, he gazed on that pile of branches. Suddenly, a leg met his eye.

“Speak it out, what’s on earth the matter with both of you? Or else I’ll call the police.” He shouted.

“Oh, buddy…buddy, don’t go. I beg you. My son carelessly killed a thief who had stolen our pigs. That’s all. But he didn’t mean to, really. I beg you not to tell anybody; you know the situation of my poor family, he is the only son and we can’t stand any blow.”

After that I rushed home to take three thousand Yuan. I said, “Oh, my buddy, here it is. Do me a favor, please?”

“You expect me not tell others with this chicken feed?” He frowned.

Then I went back and took all the money from the bottom of the bed. “Ok, that’s all I have, 1.5 thousand. Help us, please!”

“All right, but how do you deal with the corpse?” he said.

“We may dig a hole somewhere and bury him.” I replied. He told us that we’d better take him onto a bus and get off on one of bus stops since it was too late now and there were few people. He said nobody knew that. My son and I thought that might be doable, so….

    4. A Message from the Doctor

Now the peasant and his son were both put into the prison. However, one day they received a message from a legal medical expert, they were told that David died of myocardial infarction and he had been dead for about half an hour before being hit. The news extremely surprised them and the police.

According to the doctor’s analysis, the victim had been dead for about half an hour before he was hit; half an hour was enough to put out a cigarette. On the contrary, the cigarette was still burning when the victim was hit, so someone must have juggled things in this case.

The police came back to the scene of murder. They found the half-smoked cigarette and discovered some footprints deep in the road. It seemed as if someone walked with heavy things. Was it that someone carried him here? On further investigating, it was found that David went to a friend’s house for mahjong on the night of crime. The man was called Thomas.

    5. Who Was the Real Murderer?

That night we were playing mahjong. We each won some money except David, who almost lost all his money. Hopelessly, David said: “This time I put my shirt on it, if I win, I’ll get more money than what I lost.” To our surprise, he really won this time; he suddenly burst into laughter, and then fell from the chair, died. Catching the sight of it, all at once everyone else dashed out of the room, disappeared into the night, only David and I left.

I took all his money, moved him out of my house. I just wanted to find a place to bury him. I thought to myself on the way, “David and Peter had disputed on foundations. Peter’s pigs were often stolen recently, who knows; maybe the thief is just David. I could put the blame on him, and make a sum of money,” I laughed as I thought.

I put David on the wall of pigsty, and put the rest of a cigarette between his fingers, in order to make him clear in the dark night. And I took a branch to hit the pig with strength, then, went into hiding.

When I saw Peter and his son coming out of their house, hitting and hiding David, I pretended to be a drunk and came up to them, squeezing money out of them, finally, suggesting them putting David onto bus…

  • You Are Hero

    You Are Hero

Some people once said that I was not a man of real fiber. How did they speak that to me? The reason may be that I’m emotional man who shed tears when catch a sight of heartwarming scene or hear a sorrowful song. I’ve got to admit that I’m such that person indeed. In my life, what I heard and saw were made up a lot of pictures in mind. And these pictures were rolling in head once touched by something special, which makes me really think with tears. I started to consider the past, the present, and the future. I want to learn from the past, experience the present, and hope for the success in the future.

Many things come along in my life make me moved and thoughtful, upset or delighted. It may fit my personality and perhaps it’s just what I need to my life because it enriches my own world and improves my soul. And recently the fragile tears roll down my face again.

Last evening I turned on the TV-set and got the program that was going about an award ceremony on heroic deeds. I went through all the matters and was deeply moved and impressed by one of stories.

It started in the scenic spot of Wu Yi Shang city, Fu Jian, on August 15. A traveler by the name of Li Yan and her son fell into the torrential river by accident. All travelers on the bank were so tense or horrified that they didn’t know what to do to help the dying mother and son who were washed further and further. Their bodies were gradually sinking into the deep river without help they were about to die. At the critical moment, a man came form the distance made his way through the crowd, jumped into the rushing river to help Li Yan and her son without taking off his other sports shoe. Then, nobody knew what he was look. With great effort, he swam to the drowning travelers whose heads almost disappeared.

He grabbed the child’s sleeve and dragged him out of the water, then swan back hard to the bank. He pushed the boy to the crowd and came back to Li Yan’s rescue. He was badly drained of his energy for going against current. On the way to the woman he was struggling against the river and sinking too. People saw he was disappearing into the running water but to their surprise the disappeared traveler was appearing.

A female guide among the travelers also jumped into the river to help Li Yan, When she dragged Li Yan back, she turned her head and saw nothing. More and more people came and did their heart out to salvage the young man. The minutes ticked by. Nothing was discovered. People didn’t give it up, they still tried their best to find him till got him out of the long river after four hours. As the hero emerged from the water, people discovered he kept a gesture of raising his hands up. Just because of the pair of hands Li Yan was able to breathed the fresh air. Crying, shouting, with much sorrow. At that time, the sky suddenly rained heavily. Yes, the God’s tears, I guess.

When he was carried onto the bank, pople, the first time, saw his young handsome face with a short hair. He was lying there, falling asleep for ever. Later people knew that the young man was a native officer called Li Xiaohua whose heroic deed touches the whole country. What he had down perfectly drawn the curtain on his youthful life. As a Chinese, I’m deeply moved, I’m so proud of him. I hope to see more and more people who give their hands when others are on a razor’s edge. China Central Academy of Fine Arts commemorated Li Xiaohua by carving his statue which was set up in Wu Yi Shang city.

The hero just had been married for six months before he died. His wife was full of pain, tears kept rolling down his gray face on which there was an expression of much distress. She said she felt sorry that she was unable to keep their unborn child for an accident. Even so, she thought as military wife, she should accept the fact and took the pain.

When Li Yan was asked by a TV host that would you tell us what he was made of. Li Yan said: “He was so young, he gave up his life and got ones of me and my son in return. I didn’t know what he was like until the moment he died. I won’t forget that scene for ever.
