How to Express Somebody Who is Mean

2007-10-20 22:27:48

New Roman" size=3>1. She's such a penny-pincher. 她真是个守财奴。

This sounds almost literal, but, for some reason, is somewhat light-hearted. To pinch:

2. He's really tight-fisted.

This is also literal sounding. It's also obviously similar to the Chinese expression "手很紧".

3. He's such a stingy person. (I myself often use this~haha)

This one can have a slightly angrier tone to it. Stingy:

4. What a miser!

Also, like sentence 3, a fairly offensive comment.

5. He's such a tightwad.

This one carries a bit of an angry tone. Tightwad:

6. Money means everything to her.

This one is even stronger criticism.

7. He's a real scrooge.

This term, from the character in British writer Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, may be old, but it's still fresh and harsh. Scrooge:

8. She'd sell her twin sister (if she had one) /or his mother for a few pennies. (I think this one is too hard,or too "big",better not use~)

This one may sound funny, but it's often really offensive!
