  • How To Save Money

      You have a nice salary, but you still feel short of money. At the end of each month, you often ask yourselves, "Where has all my money gone"? To help you better manage your salary, here comes some money saving tips. Following them your daily expense will be cut off easily, but still keep the quality of your life.

      First, you need to set ambitious goals to encourage you to save money. For example, you plan to have a formal dress in one year, to own a car in two years' time or to buy an apartment in five years.

      Second, form money saving habits while stay away from those that waste money. Learn to keep a diary of how much you spend and what it's for. Think twice before using money on expensive skin care products. The best ways to keep your skin in good condition is sufficient sleep.

      Third, economize your daily expense. Change electric wares into energy efficient ones and leave no more than one light open when you leave home. Buy vegetables from a market not a supermarket where vegetables are less expensive and more fresh. When going to a supermarket, take a notebook with you. Write down what you wanna buy to avoid buying unnecessary stuffs. For things like shampoo, soap or washing powder, buy the family pack.

      For girls, who always spend money on clothes, there are some rules helping cut off the expense. Keep an eye on discounts information, you're likely to buy good summer dress in winter in a reasonable price. Shopping malls issue membership cards periodically. Go and get one if it's free, it may give you special discounts.

      Fifth, economize your social life. Package the leftovers for next day when you have dinner in a restaurant. When it's your turn to offer a meal, invite your friends to your home, cook the dinner yourself. If you are to attend a wedding ceremony and an expensive present is needed, ask several friends to go together to share a present. When separate from your boyfriend, send the gifts he sent you to your friends instead of throwing them away

      While reducing expenditures, you need broaden your way earning money. Find yourself a part-time job if you are energetic enough, which gives you more working experience. Give birth to your money. If you are not good at making investments, talk to a financial consultant and entrust your savings with him.

                          Learning makes you successful   

             It goes without saying that  what we do now have much to do with our exciting future.In other words,yesterday is gone ,tomorrow is yet to come,and today is the only time to control by ourselves!

           Success will come to us if we can make good use of today.On the contrary,we'll get no where if we simply idle away our precious time.We are young and so it is easy to dream away the best years of our youth.

    So what can we do in order not to make ourlife wasted?My answer is to learn more. 

          I recollected that when I was a fresh man a was a lazy guy,tired of learning,therefore my teacher told me,"there is no end of learning ,there is so much for you to learn.You have to continue to study hard by yourself before you can become a qualified student.Hard work is rewarding".Her remarking words awaken me.

          In fact,all people in the world ,particularly students, are always learning .We learn not only inside the class but also outside,not only in books but also in society.Our brains are just like wilde plants.They need to be cut and pruned with the tool of learing."To learn is to be young .Not to learn is to die."

          And now I'm a sophomore in CSU,through these years of learing I was more convinced about the way of my learning experience.And I know it's only the first step on the way of learning.And I know I was only on the first page in the book of knowledge.The further I am off the shore ,the more far-sighted I will be .The more I learn,the more I feel the need to learn;The more I learn the more I understand myself and the world I live in......

    Life is what you make of it ,and learning will make it better!

    一只猫的传奇--Garfield

    Garfield is a comic strip created by Jim Davis, featuring the cat Garfield, the pet dog Odie, and their socially inept owner Jon Arbuckle. As of 2006, it is syndicated in roughly 2,570 newspapers and journals and it currently holds the Guinness World Record for being the world's most widely syndicated comic strip. The popularity of the strip has led to an animated cartoon show, several animated television specials and two feature-length live-action films, as well as a large amount of Garfield-related merchandise.

    Garfield debuted on June 19, 1978, which fans (as well as the characters) consider Garfield's birthday. The strip pokes fun at pet owners and their relationship with their pets, often portraying the pet as the true master of the home. Garfield also struggles with human problems, such as diets, loathing of Mondays, apathy, boredom, and so on. Garfield is able to understand anything that Jon or other humans say. He supposedly cannot talk back, but often Jon seems to be able to tell what he is saying just from his expression or gestures which are much like those of a human. However, Garfield is able to talk in "thinking" to Odie and the other animals. Odie understands what Garfield says to him, but in general cannot communicate back to Garfield except by barking because he is the only character that doesn't seem to have any normal way of communicating. Although, Odie did have two thought bubbles with words in the strip. In an earlier strip, Odie is shown poking his previous owner (Lyman) and it is written in his thought bubble "I'm hungry." In a second strip, Odie is on the fence in the alley with Garfield and it is written in his thought bubble "O sole mio." Most of the other animals (Arlene, Nermal, mice, and the other dogs) are capable of a two-way conversation with Garfield. Garfield, apparently, is able to type, and he has written messages that Jon has read and understood (typically letters to Santa Claus); however, this happens very rarely. He is also apparently able to tell time (although this, as well, has often been the subject of controversy because he repeatedly states than he can't).

    Learning from the indifference his previous comic strip creation Gnorm Gnat met with, Jim Davis has made a conscious effort to include all readers in Garfield; keeping the jokes broad and the humor general and applicable to everyone. As a result the strip typically avoids the social or political commentary present in some of Garfield's contemporaries, such as Boondocks, Doonesbury, Dilbert, and Cathy. Although a couple of strips in 1978 addressed inflation and, arguably, organized labor, as well as Jon frequently smoking a pipe or subscribing to a "bachelor magazine," these elements were ultimately pruned from the product with the intent of maintaining a more universal appeal.

     

    The comic strip was turned into a cartoon special for television in 1982 called Here Comes Garfield. Actor Lorenzo Music, previously known as the voice of Carlton the doorman on the show Rhoda, was hired to portray the voice of Garfield. Soul singer Lou Rawls provided musical accompaniment. Twelve television specials were made (through 1991) as well as a television series, Garfield and Friends, which ran from 1988 to 1995.

    For his work on the strip, creator Jim Davis received the National Cartoonist Society Humor Strip Award for 1981 and 1985, and their Reuben Award for 1989.

    A live-action movie version of the comic strip, Garfield: The Movie had its debut in the United States on June 11, 2004. The film employed a computer-animated Garfield and live-action Odie. Garfield's second live-action feature film, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, was released on June 16, 2006.

    加菲猫的前世今生

    Over the course of the strip, Garfield's behavīor and appearance evolved. Initially, he was drawn extremely obese with flabby jowls and small round eyes. 这是加菲猫在一九七八年六月十九日第一幅漫画中的模样。他有尖尖的耳朵，t字型的鼻头，上唇和双颊长着许多小麻点。脸上长更多胡子，身上的斑纹也比较多。他性喜讽刺别人，讲风凉话，胃口大得惊人。这倒是从来不曾改变过。

    1. Grab some chow

    Chow 的意思是“food，esp. hearty dishes or a meal”，grab 的意思是“拿东西”，那grab some chow就是“找点好东西吃吃”的意思了。例如：I'm starving. Let's grab some chow.

    2. Chianti
    A dry red table wine made from a blend of different varieties of grapes, originally produced in northwest Italy. Chianti是个地名，是一个老的意大利葡萄酒产区，位于Tuscany，那里出产的酒普通质量的装在一种有藤编的大肚子瓶里，质量好的则是装在波尔多形瓶里。

    3. Crack up

    4. Freeze-frame

    The most dynamic female soul singer in the history of the music, Tina Turner oozed sexuality from every pore in a performing career that began the moment she stepped onstage as lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue in the late '50s. Her gritty and growling performances beat down doors everywhere, looking back to the double-barreled attack of gospel fervor and sexual abandon that had originally formed soul in the early '50s. Divorced from Ike in the mid-'70s, she recorded only occasionally later in the decade but resurfaced in the mid-'80s with a series of hit singles and movie appearances; her high-profile status was assured well into the '90s.

    Born Annie Mae Bullock near Brownsville, TN, she began singing as a teen, and joined Ike Turner's touring show as an 18-year-old backup vocalist. Just two years later, Tina was the star of the show, the attention-grabbing focal point for an incredibly smooth-running soul revue headed by Ike and his Kings of Rhythm. The couple began hitting the charts in 1960 with "A Fool in Love," and notched charting singles throughout the '60s, though the disappointing position of "River Deep-Mountain High" -- cited by Phil Spector as one of his best productions -- was very hard to take. All expectations were filled in 1971 with "Proud Mary," a number four hit which became the capstone of Ike & Tina's Revue. Frustrated by Ike's increasingly irrational behavīor, though, Tina walked out just three years later.

    She celebrated her new-found freedom in 1975 with a role in the film version of The Who's Tommy. Playing the Acid Queen, she delivered an outrageous, all-too-brief performance in an otherwise forgettable mistake of a movie. Several albums were recorded for United Artists during the late '70s, but she appeared to be washed up by the turn of the decade. Surprisingly, Tina returned in 1983, first teaming with a Heaven 17 project named BEF on a remake of the Temptations' "Ball of Confusion." Tina's vocal offering was understandably apocalyptic, and she gained a solo deal with Capitol that same year. Her first single, a cover of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," hit the Top 30 early in 1984. Second single "What's Love Got to Do With It" became one of the year's biggest hits, spending three weeks at number one. Her album Private Dancer included two more Top Ten singles, the title track and "Better Be Good to Me." With another movie role in 1985 (Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome), she found a number two hit with its theme, "We Don't Need Another Hero." Her next big hit followed in 1986 ("Typical Male"), after which Tina began to decline, still charting occasionally and selling respectably with albums including 1989's Foreign Affair, 1996's Wildest Dreams, and 2000's Twenty Four Seven.
