  • Life Is Full of Happiness

    2007-07-01 17:40:54

I always wanna say something about happiness. But it is a too large and serious t
opic for me to argue and analyze. The only thing I know is that life actually is
full of happiness,it depends on whether you could discover and enjoy it.For me t
here are some really "small" pieces of happiness I've experienced.

When I was a 7-year old girl,I was demanded to wear white shirt and blue trouser
s on 1st June,to join the Young Pioneers. At that time my parents and I lived in
a small town in Sichuan province and it's not easy to get a "white" shirt.I worr
ied about it for a couple of weeks. When at last my mother managed to make one by
herself for me just before the ceremony,I know for the first time in my life,wh
    at happiness means.

For little kid many things at present pleased her.So it seems so easy to laugh,t
    o enjoy the innocent happiness.Winning a game,getting high scores,being praised
by teachers, raising a little rabbit, each time going out for travel, each time bei
ng allowed to buy icecreams,...may be worth the most sweetest smile and cheer.

Things changed when we grow up.The more we see,the more we know, the more we worr
y about the more nervious we become. We see human being fighting against themselv
es. Murder,violence,conflict...happen every day all over the world and probably
never end. Thus people become very tired of everyday's struggle, the happiness dis
    appears soon.

But if you look into the normal people's lives, you will find, these people, majori
ty of the population of the world, may be not rich, may be not powerful, may not ha
ve their own businesses, their own houses, even not a stable good job, they do live
lives. They do enjoy their every day and prepare for the coming days with hope.I
think they may be the happiest people in the world.
Sometimes I can see a father take his son to school by bicycle. They don't have a
     car,they may be worry about sunshine,the wind,the rain,the crowded street and t
he time. But only by this way can they see trees change from green to yellow, can
the son get a chance to know other people and to learn the traffic rules. They ca
n have a funny conversation and the son could learn a lot from his father trough
it.I think they are happy at that time.

That's come back to the point what happiness is in fact.I think it's not the res
ult but the process is more important.Happiness could not be simply judged by mo
ney something. Also it's hard to say what is success. If you were born rich, you wi
ll have no idea about poor.If you have never lost, you will not be delighted by t
he seccess either. For me happiness may be those wonderful feelings last just one
moment. If you can feel it now and again, here and there, your life will be full
    of happiness.

Sometimes when I pass by the Chaoyangmen subway entrance,I see several young guy
s sitting on the ground playing guitar and singing popular songs.Few people thro
    w coins,nobody stop.This doesn't matter at all.They just sing for themselves and
enjoy it.That time I may smile,I just share their music and sing together with
them.Even when I walk away for a long time, the melodies continue in my mind.Aren
't they happy then?I feel happy too.

I have seen a movie called "The 8th Day".There is one line in it,"If you feel th
    e tree,you will become the tree...".How wonderful if I could really be a tree!I
will be more colser to the nature.I will feel the pain being cut down and leavin
g the land.I will feel the pleasure srounded by singing birds. So sometimes I re
ally envy the actors and the actresses. They have opportunities to experience dif
ferent lives. Each kind of life will full of it's own happiness and pain.So they
will be very rich of it.

I'd like to say,"If you feel the happiness, you will be happy".:-)

  • Human Rights

    2007-06-24 15:52:33

The time is 1905. A steamship sails on a vast ocean. "Daddy, will we ever get to America?" asks a weary lad. "Soon, my child, soon," his father replies. "We've been on this ship for weeks. I wish we were back home in Russia," complained the boy. "Son, you know how they persecute Jews there. We can never go back," the father reminded him. "Will things be better in America?" the young boy asked. "I hope so," his father sighed. "Look! The Statue of Liberty!" the boy shouted. "Just like in the picture!" His father smiled. "Yes, my son," he said. "I think she's waving to us."

America has long been a haven for immigrants from around the world. Until the 19th century, the majority of immigrants were from northern Europe. By the mid-20th century, they were coming from all over the globe. In recent years, scores of refugees from Southeast Asia and Latin America have fled to American shores. Why? To find a sanctuary--a place where human rights are respected.

The American idea of respecting human rights came from several sources. First, the colonists had been persecuted and deprived of their rights in the Old World. They realized that people's rights must be preserved. Moreover, the Bible and literature from Greece and Rome taught that people are born with basic rights. English writer John Locke emphasized that governments should protect these rights. As a result, the Declaration of Independence reflected the belief that God created all people equal. The U.S. Constitution included 10 amendments to guarantee citizens' basic rights. This "Bill of Rights" promised freedom of religion, freedom of speech and of the press, the right to bear arms and the right to a fair trial.

Throughout American history, the belief in individual human rights has influenced government policies and laws. Slavery opponents argued that even slaves had rights as human beings. Finally, after the Civil War, slavery was outlawed. As industries developed, many people protested the poor working conditions.

Eventually, laws were passed guaranteeing workers fair wages and working hours and prohibiting child labor. The Civil Rights Movement used human rights arguments in the fight against discrimination. Even today, U.S. trade relations with other countries depend on their having a positive human rights record.

Human rights have become a global concern. The cruelty of Nazi Germany illustrated the danger of not protecting human rights. As a result, the United Nations was established in 1945 with a belief in the basic human rights of all people. Three years later, the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This document stated that "all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights." Later, groups like Amnesty International were formed to keep an eye out for human rights abuses wherever they occur.

Most nations in the world today would agree that human beings have basic rights. Of course, different countries have different perspectives about the issue. Some governments feel the need to restrict individual rights to protect the rights of society. They resent being forced to accept America's definition of human rights. But to Americans, no matter how you define the issue, people deserve to be treated like people.

May I go to the toilet?

Go ahead.

May I go to the toilet?

Go ahead.

Good morning.”

Good evening.”

  • yesterday

    2007-06-24 14:12:06

There were two big events happened to me yesterday~~~ahahaha~~~so tired that hardly when i realized i should have recorded them on my blog had i fallen asleep~~~oh,shoot!

U know what?not only did i pass band 6 in english (feeling so good even if i hadn't finished the papers,no sooner i was about to read through the last few paragraghs than the supervisor took it away,55555,in fact, the Cloze is so easy for me,7 multiple-choice test not being filled yet,am i too stupid to choose them at random?hey~!~who knows?Maybe god should have arranged the last seat to me.hehe,in that case, the supervisor wouldn't have took my paper so hastily~~~yup~~~whatever, let bygones be bygones~~~)

The other important event is----ahahaha----i watched the singer Wu Ke qun's personal concert which is held in our UESTC gym yesterday evening .wohohoh~~~~with only 15
RMB each.(since we decided to get the second-hand ticket at the last seconds.)No doubt, that would be very cheap~~~
Never had i seen such a cheap concert before~~~besides,i am such a music-lover.He is really a genius singer in the amusing circle though i'm not that crazy about his records.Anyway, what worth listening to is that his "Wu Ke qun" which is the famous song that led him stepped into amusing circle, and "Disabled"(compared to other songs by him, this one seems tender and profound) and "Tomorrow is..." These songs are strongly recommended .hohoho~~~

But still someone disgusting to be a party pooper. In fact,my yesterday would be so perfect if she didn't remind me about the band 6 after the concert. What a party  pooper~~~Can't believe that~~~there always someone on the earth who are too bored to disgust other pp~~~what a shame~~~

Anyway,i go to sleep,i forget and forgive anything disgusting and remember those joyful~~~that's all~~~

  • Hobbies

    2007-06-12 17:44:55

Pursuing a hobby in one's spare time can  bring various rewards.A hobby can provide us with both interest and entertainment. It can be something from which we learn more about ourselves or about the world. It may introduce us to friends who share our tastes and interests and from whom we can also learn.

While choosing a hobby that suits our individual needs,we have to consider several factors. For one thing ,we have to take into account how much free time we can spend on a certain hobby and the amount of money with which to buy equipment or other things needed for it.For another,we have to think about what benefit we are likely to gain from it.We may also wish to choose between a hobby we can pursue alone and one we can share with others.

Of course, there are a great many hobbies to choose from. Some people enjoy collecting coins or stamps;other choose to spend their free time on sports or music. There are creative hobbies such as painting or model making for those who wish to do something with their hands. All of these, and many others, can all bring us rewards. However,it is a pool man without one hobby,I think.
