what's that difficult?

2008-07-20 21:40:15

For me, the biggest challenge as a teacher of English is the GAPS.
The GAP1 is between ss gifted in English and those weak at it. There are 2 groups in my class--Good and Weak at English respectively. However; they use the same book, doing the same test paper, receiving quite different evaluations by ppl who they had the same English background. So, the good feel even better and keep superiority feeling the low (just english) feel frustrated--- vicious circle.
The GAP2: students' english book is named as FUN WITH ENGLISH. i wonder whether my students get much in it, though writers hope it will. In one hand, it's true that FWE is very creative; in another, maybe its ideas for classes are a little idealistic without regard to practicality.
How to bridge the GAPS?
I stick to my belief that every ss can master good english, and they will. However, the education system is complex and i cannot change anything that may need to be changed for i am not the principle. I cannot but hope that I will still have chance to learn good english-teaching
methodology to help ss to the best of ability.
For books-- To adopt flexible ways in using books according to diverse needs of ss. Sometimes, I will design some simple learning materials for the ss weak at English to help them build self-confidence and learn better.
P.S Most important--I keep improving my english---ROOT.
