The world’s first cable-stayed Steel Pipe arch bridge has been opened to traffic in Xiangtan,Hunan province

The fourth bridge of Xiangtan,or the bridge of lotus city(Xiangtan’s nickname) has been opened to traffic recently.The bridge of lotus city was a key program of both Hunan province and Xiangtan city. With a span of 4488 meters long,the whole work starts from the joint of north No.2 ringroad and Fuzhou road in the west to the 107 national highway in the east,among which the bridge itself is 1345 meters long,the west approach road and the east approach road are 1818 and 1325 meters long respectively.The cable-stayed steel pipe arch bridge is 27 meters wide,looks like two sweeping swallows.The main body of bridge is made of concrete,its mainspan is 400 meters, the total investment of the bridge is 0.42 billion yuan,it said.The bridge has 6 two-way traffic lanes.

This is the first cable-stayed steel pipe arch bridge in the world,it said.After being put to use,the bridge will help the expansion of Xiangtan,boost the city’s development towards north and east,it also shortened the distances from Xiangtan to her near by cities,Changsha and Zhuzhou,i.e.,quickened up the integration of the three cities.
