• A TRIP TO HUASAN MOUNTAIN --07

  大约早上七点多钟，华山的大门终于打开了，人们蜂拥而入。欢笑着，兴奋着，沿着山路大步朝前走。刚刚下过雨的山里的早晨，空气湿润清新，夏日凉凉的晨风吹拂在脸上，舒服极了，真可谓神清气爽，坐夜车的疲惫一扫而光。环顾左右，人们大多是三、五成群结伴而行，偶尔也有同道中人。有位60多岁的老同志就是一人而来。走过五里关，来到石门，从石缝中穿行而过，到莎罗坪已走过10里长的缓坡山道。虽说两旁的山势看着还比较险峻，但路并不难走，只是开始感觉有点累了。过毛女洞、青柯坪，到回心石已25里。据说，很多人走到这里已经累得不行了，有点打退堂鼓了。那个外国妞好象就是在这里中途而止了。向从山上下来的人打听路还有多远，都说还早着呢！

  What a beautiful day!

  The weather is so crazy. It rain clas go in the last night. But clear up in the mornig.

  I was worry about canceling the climbing.

  Honny, wait for me. I’m too tired to move a step further.

  What about taking the cable car?

  Idol boy, that’s just what I’m thinking.

  Well, what a long queue of this!

  Honny, be patient. It’s better to wait that climbing may light broken.

  Dad, look ahead aditient. They are also a way to the sky.

  Yeah, the scenery is beautiful. What’s more, the air is fresh here.

  So, you want to stay here?

  Of course not, I have to watch my American idol.

  When Daniel and I climb mountains, Daniel can run quickly, but I always soon get too tired to move a step further. So I think about taking a cable car. The queue may be long. But it’s better to wait than to climb. And also the scenery from the cable car is really fantastic.

  花了３块钱（也许是５块），进了玉泉院，没什么特别的地方，穿过去就是了。我到玉泉院的时候才六点多，在一个小亭子休息了一下。出了玉泉院，后面有一条穿越铁路的隧道，黑漆漆的（几年以后，在这里发生拥挤事故，踩死了好几个人）。过了隧道，开始有了一种进山的味道。山涧中，水流轰隆隆的响。没多久，终于见到了“华山”的大牌坊，迈过五龙桥，不远处就是华山正门售票处。可能是时间还早，没开门，在附近转了一下，买了一条印有华山导游图的手帕，看一看路线怎么走。不看不知道，一看吓一跳，从玉泉院到山顶有40多里的山路要走。

  人越聚越多，怎么还不开门？人们有点迫不急待地想上山了。一打听，说是昨天晚上下了大雨，山路不好走，所以要晚一点再开门。我刚才还奇怪华山上的水流怎么这么汹涌，原来是刚刚下了雨。先买票吧，50元一张，另5元的保险。上“天下第一险山”看来就得买份保险。买票时见到两名外国人，一男一女，像是留学生。那年头，咱在内陆城市还真少见外国妞，不禁多看几眼，人长得还不错，白人，高鼻子，大眼睛，比较娇小，不像有些外国人五大三粗的。

  一路上与对面三口之家聊着天儿，也没觉得怎么寂寞。后半夜，趴在桌子上就睡着了。可能是早上五点多钟，人们吵吵嚷嚷说华山到了，跟着人流出了站。人还挺多的，看来华山确实是一座风景名山，吸引了不少游客。站上有人拉客，没敢搭理他们。出了站，有不少出租和小巴。一打听，这车站叫孟源，离华山还有不近的距离。只好坐上一辆小巴，价钱到不贵——２元。只记得穿过破旧的街道，转个弯，过了铁路，走了大概一、二十分钟，到了一个路口。车上人说到了，往前走上坡就是华山了。

  上坡的路上，两旁都是旅游商店，看来真是到了华山。不过，好象没怎么看见山呀！不是想象中的那样。路上随便吃了点东西，就当早餐了。有人一直在兜售白色的线手套，一块钱一双，感觉很新鲜。从来没听说旅游要专门带手套的，出于好奇，也买了一双。后来知道，这双手套作用可大了。其它卖手杖的、卖胶鞋的，就跟我没什么关系了。这里要提醒一下，穿皮鞋是上不了华山的。

  先从北街口坐２路公共汽车只３站地儿就到了新乡火车站，买了新乡至宝鸡的一趟慢车。据说，只有这趟车在华山停。车票到是不贵，好像是只有34块钱。在车站还有一小插曲儿：因为是慢车，在站上停留的时间比较长，车上人也不是太多，还有一些空座位。我的座位旁边没有人，对面是一对夫妇带着他们的女儿，可能是带孩子到西安去旅游吧。东西都放好了，他们把一袋吃的放在了座位中间的小桌上。突然，从窗外伸进一只手，抓了袋子就跑没影了。着实把我们吓了一大跳，幸亏没有什么值钱的东西。不过，这也给我提了个醒儿，路上一定要当心。

  Halfway down one of the blocks, the policeman slowed down. A man stood in the shadows by the entrance to a shop, an unlit cigar hung from his mouth. When the policeman approached, the man began to speak. "No need to worry about me", he said in an attempt to clam the officer. "A friend is supposed to meet me here. We arranged our meeting time twenty years ago. You are wondering if you've ever heard anything more strange, right?" "Well, to put you at ease, I'll explain myself, if you wish." "Please do." said the officer. "Well, as you may have guessed," said the man. "It started twenty years ago, this store behind me used to be a restaurant called Alice's." "I remember it." said the policeman. "But it went out of business quite some time ago."

• AFTER TWENTY YEARS--01

  It was nearly ten o'clock when the policeman strolled down the avenue. He stepped firmly on the street, but not agressively. Light rain carry by the breeze had empted the streets of people. Making sure doors were locked, looking down the street and swinging his club, the officer was displayed his dedication to keeping the peace. The neighborhood was known for shutting down early. Other than a few small restaurants and cigar stores, all of buildings on the street were closed.

  不过说心里话，到底怎么去华山，能不能上去？自己还真没个底儿，管它呢。回家匆匆吃了晚饭，带上300元钱，就出发了，路上路过劳动桥，花５块钱买了个旅行包，拎着的那种。当时不知道旅行包最好是双肩包，背在身上方便行走。后来，这包可让我吃了不少苦，那是后话。对了，这里面救灾忘记了一个细节，从单位回家的路上，碰到一个好久没见面的女同学，上学时我们关系很好，经常一起出去郊游。我问她有没有意思一块儿上华山。她说：你不是神经病吧？华山可不是一般人去的地方。
