  • restaurant dos and don'ts

what is considered polite in one country is sometimes considered rude in another. In other words, sometimes you should slurp and sometimes you shouldn't. Learning culture differences while you learn english is the fastest way to broaden your knowledge of the world and become more successful.

when eating, the Japanese and some Chinese are in the habit of slurping their food,by doing so,they show their host how much they like the food. Westerners find eating the soup this way most unpleasant. They also consider picking one's teeth and putting on makeup at the table no-nos. When it comes to tipping, they just leave some money on the tables. The amount is up to you,but it's usually 15 to 20 per cent of the check.

  • Love Your Life 热爱生活

    2007-09-22 21:28:52

However mean your life is,meet it and live it ;do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are.It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults in paradise.Love your life, poor as it is.You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hourss, even in a poor-house.The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man's abode;the snow melts before its door as early in the spring.I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts,as in a palace. The town's poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any.May be they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving. Most think that they are above being supported by the town;but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means.which should be more disreputable.Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage.Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends,Turn the old, return to them.Things do not change;we change.Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.

  • who moved my cheese?continued

    2007-09-17 21:08:26

"who moved my cheese?"is a book written by Spencer Johnson. it tells me a story how to deal with change. The four charactors are two mice and two little people who is as small as mouse. They were called Sniff,Scurry,Haw,Hem. Sniff could sniff the change early,Scurry acted at once when change came,Haw could act when he noticed the advantages of change, but Hem had never dealed with change. We should ask ourselves who we think we are---Sniff,Scurry,Haw,Hem.  Many of us may be like Hem,but refuse to accept. Some of us may be like Haw. I want to let myself become Scurry. The changes are being happened everywhere,I can adjust to it quickly, then i will do better. I should think about what we feel my old cheese is and what my new cheese could be.
