Cuba's Dayron Robles broke the world 110m hurdles record by clocking 12.87sec at the IAAF Grand Prix meeting on Thursday.

US President George W. Bush, scrutinized in the memoir by his ex-spokesman McAllen, is considering writing a memoir of his own.

　　Bush has been silent on former spokesman Scott McClellan's book, which said the White House shaded the truth and conducted a propaganda campaign to make its case to invade Iraq and topple Saddam Hussein.

　　Asked if he planned to pen his own book after leaving office in January, Bush said it was a possibility.

　　"I'm going to think about that, yes -- writing a book," Bush said in an interview with Britain's Observer newspaper published on Sunday.

　　The White House and former Bush aides have dismissed McClellan's book and allegations and have also questioned why he did not speak up if he disagreed with policy decisions or the way events were presented.

　　Bush's predecessor Bill Clinton wrote a best-selling book after leaving office that chronicled his life as well as his eight years in the White House. He has made more than $23 million from his memoir "My Life."

　　Bush also said he never saw the award-winning network television show "The West Wing" about a fictitious U.S. president, preferring instead to watch sports and read books.

　　"I seriously don't watch TV. You know, I watch sports, but I'd much rather read books. And I do. I read a lot," he said.

　　白宫及布什前助理无视麦克莱伦在书中对布什的指责，并质问他当时如果不同意布什的政策决定或实施方式为什么不说出来。

　　前总统克林顿曾在卸任后写了回忆录《我的人生》，他在书中回忆了自己的人生以及八年的白宫生活。这本畅销书给他带来了2300多万美元的收益。

　　布什说，他从没看过获奖电视剧《白宫风云》，但比较爱看书和体育节目。《白宫风云》讲述了一个虚构的美国总统治理美国的故事。

　　他说：“我真的不怎么看电视。平时我看体育比赛，但我更爱看书。而且我确实经常看书，看了很多书。” 

体育比赛的“场馆”可以通称venue(s)，这个词比较新，是从法语借入英语的。原来用site一词，只表示“地点”，没有指明是什么样的场地。大的体育场，尤其是田径比赛场叫stadium。体育馆，则是gymnasium，此词原本指“健身房”，尤指“体操馆”(常简拼为gym)，所以有人把大型的体育馆称作in-door stadium。gymnasium一词来自希腊语，有趣的是其最初的意思是naked(裸体的)，因为古希腊时运动员训练以及比赛时都是光着身子的，后来用做动词，意思为“训练”、“练习”。后来进入拉丁语，意思是“学校”。

　　关于不同用途的比赛场地的“场”英语有许多词，比如最常用的ground，一般的“操场”是sport ground，“赛马场”是horse race ground(有草皮的赛马场叫the turf)，“阅兵场”叫parade ground；比较开阔的场地是原义为“田地”的field，如“足球场”football field，“棒球场”baseball field(“内场”和“外场”分别叫infield 和outfield)；相对小一点的场地多用court一词(原义为“庭院”)，如“篮球场”basketball court，“ 网球场”tennis court；还有一些特殊的词，如“ 高尔夫球场”是golf course，“溜冰场”是skating rink，(体育馆内人造冰场叫ice stadium)，而“靶场”是shooting range。四周有围栏的较小的比赛场叫ring， 如“角斗场”是wrestling ring；笼统表示地点可用前面提到的site，如“排练场”叫rehearsing site，也可以用place一词。至于比赛进行到一半“交换场地”是change ends，比赛换到另一个场地才是change sites。

　　 北京奥运会比赛场馆“鸟巢”可叫Birds' Nest，“水立方”可叫Water Cubic。

AC Milan midfielder Kaka won the 2007 Golden Ball award Sunday in Paris after helping the Italian club win the Champions League title this year with some standout performances.  

The 25-year-old Brazil international notably played a starring role in AC Milan's triumphant Champions League campaign scoring 10 goals.  

"It has been a special year for me, this award underlines that," Kaka said. "The only way to win an award like this is to belong to a team which fights. I have to thank the players, the coach."  

"It's a great honour as the wife of Kaka to be at this ceremony. I know how important it was for my husband to win this trophy," said his wife Caroline.  

Kaka received 444 points from France Football magazine, which organized the vote. Portugal and Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo was second with 277, while Argentina and FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi finished third with 255.  

Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro won the award last year after leading his team to the World Cup title in Germany.  

The 52 journalists were only allowed to vote for a player from a European club.  

This year's format was different, involving 96 journalists and a shortlist of 50 players worldwide.  

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was fourth with 108 points, and Italy and Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo finished fifth with 41.  

After helping Real Madrid win the Spanish league title, striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was sixth. Brazil forward Ronaldinho, the 2005 winner, dropped to 12th, and France striker Thierry Henry was 19th.

去年的“金球奖”得主是意大利国家足球队队长法比奥?卡纳瓦罗，他带领球队夺得了德国“世界杯”冠军。  

按照以往的评选规则，只有52名记者能参与“金球奖”的投票，投票范围也仅限欧洲俱乐部的球员。  

但今年的评选有所不同，参与投票的记者增加至96名，“金球奖”的50名候选人也扩大到了世界各地的俱乐部。  

切尔西俱乐部前锋迪迪尔?德罗巴以108分位列第四，意大利国家队和米兰俱乐部中锋安德鲁?皮尔洛以41分名列第五。  

帮助球队夺得西甲联赛冠军的马德里俱乐部前锋鲁德?范?尼斯特尔鲁伊位居第六。2005年金球奖得主、巴西国家队前锋罗纳尔迪尼奥跌至第12位，法国队前锋特里?亨利名列第19位。
