• 怎样提高外语学习效率

  许多英语学习者都有一个同感：当学习达到一定程度后，要再上一个层次似乎变得非常困难，常有一种事倍功半的感觉，而且，不同英语水平的人要“更上”不同的“一层楼”时，都会遇到这个具有共性的问题。究其原因，没有足够的阅读量是根本性的制约因素，因为阅读量不够，至少会造成如下几方面的弊端，从而造成“原地踏步”的境况：

  　　缺乏语感。语感就是对语言的一种直觉。一个人讲话像不像英语或一篇文章写得像不像英文，我们能直接觉察到，这就是语感。语感不是天生的，是在学习中逐步培养并加强的，阅读材料上如果没有一定量的积累，就难以建立起语感，而没有语感，读起文章来就很费劲，尽管每个语法都明白，每个单词都认识，但仍然不能从整体上欣赏、把握一篇文章。

  　　缺乏文化背景。语言是文化的一部分，具有极深的文化底蕴。没有语言文化背景，英语学习者就不能真正完全读懂外国文献(尤其是社会科学类)、顺畅地与外国朋友交流，就是因为不了解英语的习俗文化、思维文化及历史文化，存在着词汇、修饰、习用语等方面的阻碍。而文化背景的获取，最理想、最地道的方法还是通过大量阅读各种文章(著作)，通过天长日久的积累，从而消除文化上的隔膜。 (来源：英语电影下载 http://bt.englishcn.com)

  　　通过大量的阅读，就可以克服以上几方面的障碍，这时，学习者就会发现英语其实就像母语一样可亲可近，并不是想像的那样高不可攀，在不自觉之时，水平已提高了一个层次。那么，具体怎样阅读，读什么呢？

  　　1、精泛并举，范围要广。对于比较精彩的文章，要仔细咀嚼，不但要借助于词典等工具，对其中的主要词语、句型、语法进行透彻地分析，还要细细揣摸文章的组织结构及它的言外之意和弦外之音。这也就要求精读选择的分量不要大，重在“精”。所谓“泛”，就是大面积地阅读，在能理解文章内容的前提下，进行广泛涉猎，不必求甚解，只求扩大眼界：社会科学、历史、地理、艺术、风土人情、科学技术等都可作为阅读范围。这样，既培养了语感，又增加了文化背景知识，达到扎扎实实提高英语水平的目的。

  　　2、尽可能地读原著文章(著作)。开始直接读原著，会有较大难度，可以首先阅读几本简写的小说或故事、英美文学名著，这类简读本因保持原作的风格，文字也多出处在原文，可以增加感性认识，培养并增强语感，再逐渐过渡到读原著，因为原著才是真正的“英语”，通过阅读它，才进入了地道的英语世界，对语汇、语法、句型及文化背景等的理解和掌握才有了生机。反观目前国内市面上的一些“阅读训练”材料，更多是汉译英的文字，一则内容熟悉，二则译文受汉语影响，不利于真正提高阅读理解能力。 (来源：英语分类信息 http://fl.englishcn.com)

  　　3、要持之以恒。英语作为一种语言，从掌握到熟练运用需要一个过程，就像一个人不可能通过三五天的好吃猛吃，就长得膀大腰圆一样，对英语的学习也贵在坚持。有人算过，阅读水平中等的人，读一般的书，每天读15分钟，一年就可以读到20本书。每个人应该根据自己的情况，每天安排一定的时间(如30分钟)来阅读。只有通过“细水长流”，才能在英语的学习中取得质的飞跃。当有一天你读国外名著就像读《西游记》一样轻松时，那不是你用某个“技巧”取得的，而是你“滴水穿石”的结果，此时，制约英语水平提高的“瓶颈”才算真正打破。

• 西方女人眼中的中国男人

  Chinese men in the eyes of Western women
   
  Chinanews, Shanghai, Aug 8 –For once, Chinese female film stars, like Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi, have set a good image for Chinese women in the world with the charm they display in their films. Compared with Chinese women, Chinese men's image is not fairly good in the eyes of Western women, the Shanghai Evening Post reported.

   

  In March 2006, Zhang Jiehai, a doctorate holder at the Sociology Institute of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, led a research team to investigate how Western women looked at Chinese men. (来源：英语聊天室 http://chat.EnglishCN.com)

  The survey shows that many Western women think Chinese men are mostly noted for their care for the family. Chinese men, as the Western women say, are willing to spend money for women and when they fall in love with a woman, they are serious about the romance. (来源：英语问答中心 http://ask.englishcn.com)

  In regard to their shortcomings, Western women think that Chinese men do not have gentleman manners. Since they do not take much exercise, most Chinese men do not have a good figure. Chinese men lack individuality. Nearly every Western woman respondent to the survey mention about the bad habits that some Chinese men have—spitting everywhere, keeping nails and long hair, picking their noses and ears, and not cleaning their teeth thoroughly. These bad habits make many Western women think that Chinese men are averse to personal hygiene.

   

  The survey was conducted in two ways, by questionnaires and interviews. More than 100 Western women answered the questionnaires and 20 women discussed the issue in details in the interviews.
