We had a very interesting business english class today, which
invovles some case stdies.The case is about the handling of
products.It tells that a British food and drink compant just
discovered that some bottles of its coffee-flavored drink"Lift"
have some pieces of glass in them.What is woese, bottles from the
same production run have already been distributed and on sale
in six other countries in western Europe, and 50,000 bottles
are currently being shipped to the USA.The managing director
has called an emergency meeting at the company, and we students
played the roles of managers from different departments of the company
by the instuction of the teacher.We six people are grouped in a team ,
and the task is to do the decision making.
After the discussion and some hot debate ,we finally form a consensus.
The proposals follows like this:
Step1. Notify all the clients and distributors to stop the sale of "Lift'
Step2. Hold a press conference to explain but keep reserved on the issue
Step3. Investigate the cause of the event.
assumption 1: caused by insiders of the company
Under this condition, the HR Department should check whether there
exsists sabotage and someone is hired bycompetitor.
If it happens, the company must pose lawsuit to the people
and party concerned in case of financial loss and damage of our reputation.
assumption2:caused by our own bottling department
If this happens,we must find out the concerned people and leaders
responsible and pose them strict punishments .Moreover,we must
also make improvements on our prodcution line and machines,
intensify the quality inspection system.
Step4.Make some comments on the issue and apologize to the consumer
Step5.Handling the compensation issues.
