New Roman" size=5>Everyone has a clear idea in his mind that we should get ourselves through to others when we write something down, especially to native speakers. However to us foreign learners, we have to master a lot of numerous long and obscure words even to native speakers to meet the requirements of exams. Whether we are good at english or not, will be decided by the range of vocabulary which is within our reach.

Long words, some of them are not even of much use to native speakers, are required by us to memorize them and master the use of them. It is up to us to decide whether we learn them or not. However, we are just compelled to know the correct spellings of them and the use of them. Though in practice we may still use them in a wrong way. For exams such as TEFOL OR GRE, there are so many words for us to memorize, which is so boring a job.

No Chinese will boast of his knowledge of english by using long words. we want only to practice the use of them.

How I appreciate your help. However what I said is true with nearly all Chinese students. Whether your english is good or not is largely depending on how many english words you know, to us. hehehehhe

You mean you still get good marks even your english doesn't make sense as long as you use big big words ???

For those who want to take TEFOL OR GRE exams (although I don't even have a clue what they are).....maybe you should read international news or some journal articles...

Don't use any word you see when you read Shakespeares....because those words do not apply for the mordern English world anymore...if you use them....it sounds really wired...

Well, I just give segguestions....you can write whatever you like, you can also use big big words all the time although you are using them wrong.....

Hey, everyone is entitled to decide what he/she writes...just like I am entitled to decide whether your English make sense to me or not. and when it doesn't, it doesn't.....
