My song choice at Karaoke

New Roman" color=#000066 size=4>I went to Karaoke with my Asian friends the other day and had lots of fun singing and  "howling" sometimes.

Especially, Aiko dazzled us with her powerful voice singing ''Coming on over" and "You are still the one", "From the moment on",  many of Shania Twain's hit songs.

You would probably agree with me that English Songs are not meant to be sang by anyone ,because they have to have a right voice and extra  controls over  the pitches and rhythms to make it sound like an English song. I have many friends who are crazy about English songs and put lots of  efforts on remembering lyrics and melodies but sadly,  they just dont seem to get the hang of it. It always ends up sounding  like neither an English song nor a Chinese song....... (Hate some Asian singers adding English lyrics  to their songs despite the fact that they cant even pronounce some english words properly. ) 

But she was totally different , She sang so well that the rest of us were just staring at the screen and kept silence until she finish. Its very hard to imagine that such a powerful voice came out of a very soft and gentle girl's body. To more of my surprise , she turned out to be a  geeky girl who is currently working at HP's IT department. I did not expect much interesting stuff  from her when i first got introduced to her. Anyway, I am glad i was proved wrong  . I wish i could sing like Aiko someday in Karaoke and stun all my friends into silence , too : )

I feel  my long gone passions about songs are back. I have to admit that i am actually the one who gives  English songs a very strong "Asian Touch"(whatever ...) when singing . But i feel may be i can offset my downside by choosing a right song for myself. And here is the list that i am practising right now .......(Actually , planning to practise........ got to find myself time for that ! )

As you can see from the above song choice, i am really more for ballads and am an old-fashioned person. (whatever that means ) Cant stand rock songs except Bon Jovi's. Like R&B but cant sing , too much challenges. Love Britney's  , Mariah Carey's song , but i would not encourage anyone to sing those at karaoke . Awful to listen if one does not  have their talents .
