Charlie Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin was born in a poor area of south london in 1888. He lived a miserable childhood. Dickens might have created Charlie Chaplin’s chirldhood, but only Charlie Chaplin himself  could have created the great comic character of “the Tramp” ,the little man in rags who gave his creator permanent fame.

Chaplin was an immensely talented man , determined to a degree unusal even in the ranks of hoollywood stars.

His whole life was full of paradox. Though he lived a miserable chirlhood, he brought us endless  joy. while as a comic, his behaver, well , a bit crude, however, this gave him permanent fame. During the 1930s ,it was a headache for Chaplin to risist  the talking movies.He made up a nonsense language which sounded like no known nationality. And this made his huge success. Like common people, he had a deep need to be loved, but a little fear of being betrayed. His early marriages were painful,but he was lucky enough to get his stable happiness in his 50s.

It’s a mazing that he died on Christmas Day in 1977, and his body was stolen. Maybe it’s a fitting memorial----his own way of having the last laugh on a world to which he had given so many!
